DETAILS AT THE MUSEUM

A few weeks back, myself and my good friends K & A went to the museum on a rainy afternoon. We grabbed a hot cup of tea and sat to chat before perusing the beautiful historical pieces. I loved it! Let me amend that, weather in Pittsburgh is still brisk, if not just plain chilly, so hot tea and turtle necks were necessary just a few weeks back.

Roaming the grand halls of the museum with K & A was such a sweet experience. You learn new things about your friends when you try new things. It was great to talk about art and history with them, granted I already have a weak spot for such things, it led to great conversation. I'll do my best to share ideas for new and unique ways to hang out with friends.

This outfit is very similar to the one from my trip to DC. It's a great example of how changing a few details-accessories-can give your outfit a new outlook.

Life is so much more worth it
when you try new things,

LA VIE EN ROSE

I spend hours everyday uploading information. Storing it in my brain. Whether that be from the information I research about the industry or the images that inspire me. Here are some of the images that brought beauty to my life today. Hope it brings some to yours.

OLD SOUL

So like I promised, here's a picture of what I purchased while in DC. I didn't actually buy them myself, they were a sort of gift! A pair of 50's menswear-inspired sunglasses. I love them! They compliment my combination of feminine and menswear perfectly, if I can say so myself.

On our last day in DC, we spent the afternoon at an outdoor market with vendors selling vintage furniture, jewelry, organic fruits and veggies...IT WAS PERFECT! There were things to smell and live music to listen to. It was so sunny and just brisk enough to be comfortable, it couldn't have been nicer for our lovely afternoon trip.

I sat at lunch in my old man glasses, reading the local newspaper. I must say I was content.

Happiness is an unmatched friend-
best spent sharing it with loved ones,
Elisa

WORTHY OF A DAY DREAM OR TWO

I spent the past weekend in DC with my family. I had so much fun! It's an amazing feeling to grow out of that teenage angst and really start building strong, loving relationships with your family. The love and support a family provides is unique. Appreciate them. I'm shocked at how some teenagers/people treat their parents. I'm proud to say that I've never said "I hate you", or slammed a door, or yelled at my mother, not to say I spared her all my drama. ;) Speaking of my momma...how lovely is her photography skills? She did a great job for this post, didn't she?

As for DC, it was a beautiful place! One of the first cities I could really see myself living in. The houses are beautiful, they've got green life amongst city-living, good public transportation, clean streets...I could go on and on! I think my favorite neighborhood was Adams Morgan. They had STUNNING houses. There were a number of ethnic restaurants, one of which was Cuban food-my favorite! And what seemed to be a lively night life.

It was the Cherry Blossom Festival. Every Spring the hundreds of cherry blossoms around the city paint the horizon in hues of light pink and white. They looked so soft, I just wanted to lay atop of them. It really was a sweet sight for sore eyes. It helped rejuvenate me, in a serious time of needing any help I could get. The trip has definitely left me with some day dreaming material. I bought one thing while in DC, but you'll have to wait til next time to see it. ;)

What cities do you dream about?

BLACK OR WHITE: ONLY IF YOU LET IT

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately-nothing new I suppose-and wanted to share my thoughts with you. Most FashBar readers are young adults, both students and fresh professionals, a number of who are working hard to figure out what path they want to take in life. Well, I am floating along in the same boat with you and more so now than ever before, I'm starting to panic a little bit. I'm stuck between what people expect and what I dream to achieve.

With graduation looming people keep asking what I plan on doing next. Most see it as black and white. Choosing between full-time jobs at big-time corporations, followed by buying a place and settling down somewhere familiar. But I want grey. Something different. What if I crave my own path? I worry. People don't seem to have faith in the unknown. I'm pretty sure I've said it here before, "Why can't I be the exception?". One of the wisest things I've ever heard, from the mouth of my friend Taneeka, another young girl with big dreams. Everyone lives within expectation, theres gotta be that one person to break the mold, why can't that be me? I try to remember this when I second guess my choice for paving an otherwise unbeaten path.

So here I exclaim: The world is full of color. Build your rainbow around you. Leave the expected behind.

Have faith in yourself,
Elisa
