IN THE STEAMER: REMINGTON ROLLERS

In the Steamer, another new feature of Fashionista Barista; here we'll be reviewing everyday products  and deciding whether they live up to the stylish lives of FashBar readers, or they'll burn in The Steamer. ;)

I am admittedly awful about doing my hair. I rarely have time to do it, and have even less patience for trying to find time. That is why today's product, Remington All That Wrap n' Roller Set, is definitely a Steam Queen. They only take minutes to warm up, about 10-15 minutes to put in and as soon as you're done putting them in you can start taking the first ones you set, out!

You can see the shape of the actual rollers above, the one on the left is open (how you'd wrap your hair) and the closed one, is on the right. You just wrap your hair around the base of the open roller and then flip it inside out. You just pop it right side out, to release your hair, when they've cooled.

This is my go to product whenever I decide to do my hair. I probably spend the same, if not less, time on my updos as others do for their normal hair routine. And this product allows me to do that. However if I had one complaint, it would be that I often burn my fingers trying to close the rollers. This is because there is the slightest bit of the heating metal showing at the base of the rollers. If I wasn't always rushing to get them in, I imagine I'd be able to avoid most of my 'ouch' moments.

So overall, the Remington All That Wrap n' Roller Set scores a 9 and comes out from In the Steamer, rockin!

To easy beauty,
Elisa

TREND RECIPE 001

Other than a new header, welcome Trend Recipes to FashBar! They're gonna kick off the start of a new year, even if a little late. I said it best yesterday, when responding to a sweet email from Street and City Photos, "Life throws you over its shoulder and runs with you sometimes." And truthfully, I'm still swamped with responsibility, but I refuse to let FashBar and you, my sweet readers, down. Thus, we're back on the ball!

So what's a Trend Recipe? Well, it is a compilation of pieces all centering around a trend category. Today we are talking about the sundress, or dress, trend! Something I feel is gaining momentum, and will continue to this Spring and Summer. I personally think dresses are making a huge comeback, maybe even the biggest they've seen since the 50's! They're everywhere, under cardigans, over leggings, hidden as skirts. So, Trend Recipe 001 will be The Sundress! And I've added a pinch of homegrown style to the ingredients. Trend Recipes will often have items for all facets of life, because dress isn't a solitary part of your day, but rather just a piece of your puzzle.

A BLANK CANVAS

I'm finally in my new place and pretty much settled in. I've been decorating and rearranging. The picture above is my bedside table, I put it together on Sunday. I love the charm of the pieces on the table juxtaposed with the character of the vent.

I got the lamp, vase/flowers and candles at Ikea. The Perry Ellis perfume was actually free at a workplace swap. My next step in a photo wall I gave you a sneak peak of here. I've selected, printed and framed all the photos, I just haven't decided where to put them. I'll keep you updated.

I want to apologize for the slump in updates, my creativity for blog posts have been dragging. And due to this winter weather and a need to dress functionally (since I walk outside quite a bit), good outfits have been very few and far between. I'm hoping to get the ball rolling again soon. I'll keep you all updated on this too.

Until next time,
Elisa
