After pulling three all-nighters in one weekend, I found that my decision to skip on sleep was well worth it, cause I had an engagement in classic Irish culture to follow. And what better way to start off a morning in Dublin than with a classic Irish brunch and a thick pint of Guinness? A perfect source of energy for our sightseeing of the Dublin Castle and an old Irish prison. Adventuring through back alleys and side streets of Dublin, we found ourselves running into the most polite and helpful townspeople.
That first evening was spent at a bar named Fitzsimmons, located in Temple Bar, an area filled with jolly Irishmen, cozy pubs and upbeat live music. The night started off early by sipping on different ciders and dancing to Irish tunes with locals; it led to a late night of keeping up with the heavy Irish drinkers, making new friends from all across the green country, and being spun to “Galway Girl”, a moment straight out of the movie PS I Love You. Never have I met a culture of people so welcoming and happy to provide you with a fun-filled evening in the local pub.
In store for the following morning was a tour of the one and only, Guinness Factory, which guided us through the entire process of how the delicious beer is made. We were provided with free samples throughout, along with a complimentary pint as we reached the end. I am not ashamed to say that by the end of the two-hour tour, with the amount of samples and taste tests, we were all feeling a bit more cheerful than usual.
After having such an amazing time at Fitzsimmons the evening before, we decided to head back to see what they had in store for round two. Surprisingly enough, after a few ciders, we each found ourselves engaging in conversation with our own Irish gentleman, sweeping us off our feet with their adorable accent and charm. A perfect way to end a weekend in Dublin, if I do say so myself.
Here’s to finding your charming Irish prince,
Even if for just one weekend. Cheers!
