HAVE A GOULISHLY AWESOME TIME

Today is the Halloween decorating contest where I intern! Unfortunately, I couldn't help decorate because of a four page paper. So today I made Halloweenies to bring in; I had to do my part of course and hopefully they'd sway the judges. ;)

They are overall pretty easy to make; they are definitely tedious and a little time consuming (depending on your need for perfection), but a lot of fun! You just flatten out crescent rolls, cut them into strips and wrap them around mini hotdogs. You let them bake for about 10 mins and then dot the eyes with mustard. Then, Voila! You've got mini mummy dogs, or as they're often referred to... Halloweenies!

So to keep in the spirit of Halloween, fall and festive colors, I've created a collage of pieces that have currently caught my eye. Have an awesome Halloween everyone! And feel free to link me to your cool costumes. I'd love to see them!

GREENIE MEANIE GLOB GOBLINS

I am considering it the official start of the holidays. With Halloween next weekend, Thanksgiving shortly there after and Christmas only two months away, I'm starting to get really excited. However, what's really got my holiday clock started....GOODIES! I haven't been able to stop eating sugary foods since my family's trip to the pumpkin patch a few weekends ago. Unfortunately, my face is a "clear" indication of my new indulgences-pimples...GROSS!

Anyway, wanted to share these awesomely cute treats with you. They are a fun interpretation of the classic rice krispie treat; my momma and I made them during a late night baking session. You can make their little faces out of any candy you'd like. It's fun to personalize them. You just use the original rice krispie treat recipe and substitute rice krispies for kix; be sure to put green food dye in the marshmellows, and viola! Now you've got what Doug called "Greenie Meanie Glob Goblins."

PUN'KIN PATCHIN'

Last weekend was a great one! I went shopping with a new friend, got tons of goodies on sale and ate dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. And that was only Saturday! Then on Sunday my family, Doug and I all went to the pumpkin patch; I call it "Pun'kin Patchin'." Doug had been looking forward to it for months; which I found irresistibly adorable, of course.

I took the opportunity to wear one of my new dresses. It's totally farm-y, right? While Doug sure didn't think so, I couldn't escape the idea of this cute-little-tan-and-black-gingham number juxtaposed alongside bright orange pumpkins and red autumn leaves. I finished my night with handfuls of kettle corn and cheesy Halloween movies. I can only hope for that much fun this weekend.

YOU SAY STUDY DATE, WE SAY DINNER DATE!

During midterms and finals you can forget to breath let alone eat hearty, healthy meals. However, during weeks you're drowning in papers and quizzes good meals are one of the best things you can do for yourself. That is why when my friends, Jasi and Sam, and I got together for a midnight study session we were sure to make ourselves some 'good eats'. It took no longer then 30 minutes and filled our bellies for hours.

1. All you have to do is heat up desired amount of speghetti sauce; we chose canned vodka sauce.
2. Boil some water, add your favorite noodles and let those simmer for around 8 minutes [the box with tell you the best time]. ADVICE: Best way to check if your noodles are done? Fish one out of the water, cut it in half and look inside; if you see any white, it still needs cooking time.
3. Throw together a salad, whether from a bag or from scratch, it only takes mintues. Then top with your favorite dressing. I chose ginger dressing; it's probably my all time favorite.
4. Toast some bread, spread butter on it and top it with chopped garlic.
5. ENJOY! Try and refresh your brain before you get back to studying.

To remembering the best things in life-
in the busiest of moments,

UNDERSCORE

{photos by my dear friend Jasmine}

Ever have those days when your brain hurts? When you're thinking so hard about something, you can literally physically feel it. Well guys, to be honest, I feel like I've been in a perpetual state of "brain pain" for a few months now. I'm constantly planning for the future, trying to come up with new projects and spending too much time over analyzing everything. And unfortunately I see no end to it, in the near future anyway. So while I drudge on with daily tasks, and floating around in my thoughts, I try to mix comfort with style; you can see one of my latest attempts above. I combined my innate ability to somehow look 80's everyday {off the shoulder sweatshirts and big teased hair} with my new favorite shoes and plenty of rings.

Before I go I have a big favor to ask. I have a number of loyal followers visiting the site day after day and quite frankly seeing the little numbers on my google analytics account go up and up brings as much joy to me as, well, cake to a fat kid? That being said, my followers quantity is more then lacking. If you are fan of Fashionista Barista, it would make my day if you could please follow this blog. If for no other reason then your one good deed for the day, I'd appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

Forever the mind's slave,
Elisa

LAST OF SUMMER FLOWERS

{the flowers around my mailbox}

With fall comes beautiful leaves, crisp air and the soft glowing sun. I'm seriously in awe every time I step outside. It makes my trip to school harder, well staying in school that is. I'm so excited for big sweaters and months of hot tea! How about you?

Before forgetting summer fun because of fall excitement, I want to reminisce about my favorite things from the past few months. Here's to mastering the sunbathing soundtrack, getting caught singing in your car,  the sound of doggies playing in the yard and the sight of friends eating lunch in the afternoon sun.

Now that we've appreciated summer-
Let's cheer for fall,

ROAD TRIPPING

Feeling a lil' poopy today, so I'm gonna keep it short.  I snapped a shot of my overgrown ring and blinding nail polish while I drove the other day-taking photos while driving, i know i know. Got to spend the weekend at Seven Springs with Doug.  The autumn leaves were breathtaking!! Have I mentioned how much I love fall?  I have to admit I didn't take many photos and I totally should have! But I was enjoying a weekend away from responsibilities, hope you don't mind.

To enjoy your time,
Elisa

THE REAL MAD MEN

Last Wednesday, I was invited to a Mad Men inspired showing of Art & Copy; I got to mingle with some of the real mad men that inspired the show. I really went for an excuse to get dressed up and see one of my favorite professors; he's such a sweet guy! He brought myself and all my classmates candy; I'd sell my soul for airheads ;)

But what I got out of it was so much more than pretty 50's & 60's inspired garb photos, if I can say so myself.  It was a breathe of fresh air.  A jolt to my inspiration.  Something, I think, every creative person needs and appreciates. It really made me think about what I wanted to do and what type of environment I wanted to be a part of. I love thinking about that, planning and dreaming about the future. What films inspire you?

You can learn more about the film here. I wouldn't recommend it for everybody; I just enjoy dabbling in advertising and learning about creative fields. The last picture shows you the venue for the party. Point Park University, it was quite beautiful. I love old architecture!
Dare to dream,
Elisa

HOME OF THE INFAMOUS BEN & JERRY

[photos by friend and talented photographer Maria, visit her site here]

A couple weekends ago I spent a few days in Vermont.  Wow, was it beautiful there.  The rolling grass-covered hills, the cute barns scattered throughout the scenery and of course the home of Ben&Jerry's; it was kind of a no brainer.  I think the most interesting part was the type of people I saw there.  They all seemed so outdoorsy, so hippie, so free and open-minded; let's put it this way, from a fashion student's point of view...I've never seen so much forest green clothing in my life!  All in there Padagonia and Mormot jackets; it was like its own little world. I say all of this in a totally endearing kinda way.  There was a little part of town sprinkled with restaurants and shops and tons of outdoor entertainment; it was called Church Street Marketplace and it was totally cute.  You can see their site here.  There was one boutique in particular that I found absolutely adorable, Ecco.

We spent most of Friday traveling, dealing with layovers and recycled air.  Other then my new fear of flying, I really enjoy it.  Would it be totally lame to admit it makes me feel cool :)  I'm a traveler at heart and when I get the chance to do so I feel elated.  A little hint: a remedy for flying fears...SLEEP!  Then you don't have to deal with the anxiety.  I didn't need any help falling asleep, but if you were to need help, I'd recommend Unisom.  I also recommend lots of layers; the temperature is ever changing.  From stuffy airplanes to the chilled high altitudes to the over a/c-ed airline terminals.  Just make sure they're no-fuss layers, like scarves and buttoned or open-front cardigans; something easy to put on and off when going through security. You can see what I wore for my Traveling Friday, above.  What is some of your favorite traveling gear?

Can't wait for my next adventure,
Elisa
