It gets tricky with my body type.  But, I'm gonna keep trying, stay tuned! Just a quicky today guys.  Have an awesome weekend!! Be sure to come back Monday for FashBar's FIRST GIVEAWAY!!!

FALL INTERVIEW ATTIRE!

Fall internship season is ahead and many of you may be applying to places you love.  So, you want to be sure to impress.  There's a local retailer I've been lusting over for quite some time now and I've finally scored an interview with them!!

So here's the question, after doing my I-GOT-THE-INTERVIEW-JIGGLE, I started thinking about the next steps.  I'm gonna pause on the most recent thought: WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?! I've been through a number of interviews before; but this time, I want to even more to wow them!  When dressing for an interview, particularly in the fashion industry, you want to be sure to incorporate your own style and sense of self, uphold a level of professionalism as well as show that you can fit into their environment/style.

Below, I've utilized pieces from Modcloth.com.  I adore their indie, vintage feel; they definitely bring an atmosphere to online shopping, a lovely one at that.  So today, I'll show you my top picks for interview-wear via Modcloth's awesome selection :)

Petaluma Dress for $52.99
Valpolicella Bag for $114.99

Be sure to bring a copy of your resume and cover letter, any previous work: like sketches, photos, videos, writing samples, and a few references.  But most importantly bring a smile and tons of enthusiasm, you bet I will be!  Have an awesome day and good luck with your applications!

P.s. I woke up singing this song, you should check it out :)

Where do you aspire to intern,
Elisa

OHHH CANADA!

So as I mentioned Friday, I got to spend a lovely weekend in Canada.  It was a little romantic getaway to Niagara Falls, Ontario with the bf; we had a blast!  I loved his company and he pampered me like I was a princess :) We took afternoon naps, had long lunches and took the Maid of the Mist right up to the falls!  I'd have to say the second night was my favorite though!  We watched a stand up show, the comedians were hilarious! Doug couldn't stop laughing; it was the cutest thing! After which we danced the night away.  I couldn't be happier with how it went.

So...after the great feedback on the original post, I decided I'd throw together another packing list for you all!  I had lots of fun getting dressed and putting together creative outfits for this trip.  Turns out, I'd rather pack for Niagara then the beach?! It was great getting to dress a bit more Fall then Summer. This is how you can pack for a weekend trip in less than 10 items!
RECYCLE, REVAMP and you'll get DOUBLE TAKES:

The key was to choose a couple staple pieces, like the boyfriend blazer and booties.  By switching out the lighter, main pieces, like the romper for the LBD, you can get two days worth of wear, or a day to night look.  The romper keeps you cool while the suns out, and the layered legwear is functional in keeping you warm after dark; of course looking super cute and trendy is a plus!  I must say, I'm currently OBSESSED with layered legwear. Even though you are repeating the accessories you still get two different looks!  It's a fail-proof way to keep your guy's eye glued to you all weekend, or for the singles, attract some new looks ;)

Be innovative,
Elisa

FINALLY A FREE NIGHT

So, as I'm sure quite a few of you know, college life can be hectic; running from class to work to your internship, trying to find time for family and friends, not to mention finding time to try all those things on your bucket list and that's still not including time to just sit and breathe...phew.
I've come to believe its unhealthy for us to run our selves ragged. When we're scheduling our fifty-things-to-do list, by at least number #30, "RELAX" should be one of them.  So here's what I did on my night off.

I'm sure you've deduced, if I haven't mentioned, that I'm an avid blog reader.  And after seeing the drop crotch pants surfacing in many trendy cities, and realizing my love for them, I decided to rush Pittsburgh right into it by buying my own pair.  Granted, you can tell that they've been seeing more of my room than the city streets, but REALLY it's just because they're so darn comfortable!  I've grown such a liking to them, they'll be traveling with me to CANADA this weekend! Yay, another Canada trip for you to see :)

Anyway, I guess I should head off; got a long drive ahead of me.  BUT, before I go, I'm recommending you try these beauties.  See how you can make them fit your style.  Ps, I got mine at H&M for $18!

Trends aren't supposed to rule-
it's about how you can make them FIT your style,
Elisa

p.s. punn intended ;)

END OF SUMMER REFRESH

Like I promised, here's our long awaited food post. Something light and refreshing, and SUPER easy to whip together. It's a sliced avocado!  I just let it 'marinade' in vinegar for several minutes and then sprinkle some salt and pepper atop. Easy enough, right? It's a great alternative to salad and it gives your dinner party a little something unexpected.

Good for a summer send off party,

MELLOW MONDAY

It's been raining off and on for a few days now and if it weren't for leaving my sunroof open, I'd have no complaints about the break from the scolding sun.  I know I've been ranting about how excited I am for Fall, and this slighty cooler, rainy weather gave me the chance to wear something Summer/Fall transitional.  Just a few months ago I had my first Zara [from which this awesome boat neck, stripe tee was snatched] experience, and I've been hooked since first window-glance.  I love the navy and chestnutty combo.  It was a fuss-free, yet still fashionable, alternative to sweats on a slow day.

photos by danielle anderson photo, big thanks!
I know theres been a shortage on the food posts so stop back Wednesday for an awesome end of summer snack; it's super refreshing and takes less the 5 minutes to whip together.  It would be great to take back to college with you, and since its so low maintanence it'd be "dorm do-able."

Happy Monday,
Elisa

SUMMER SUNSETS

I've had this romper for a a few weeks now, I got it for my trip to Ocean City.  I just haven't had an outfit shot to do it justice.  I love the whimsy floral pattern, it also has super cute bows on the straps (hidden in the shots).  I loved pairing it with my Sue Fry pearl flower earrings.  I'm still craving Fall, but I can't let myself forget about this beautiful summer sunsets.  What will you miss most about summer?

Thank you to my beautiful neighbor for taking these photos!

A SERIOUS CRAVING, FOR FALL

Its been two days in a row now that I've had hot tea in summer weather, I think that's evidence enough to how much I'm anticipating Fall.  I'm craving crisp winds, hot tea by the fire and love cuddles under layers of fluffy throws.  I'm craving comfort, but mostly layers of new fall clothes!  So I've made a collage of my Fall Wish List; you could call it my Autumn Mood Board :)

1. Charlotte Russe Mens Inspired Cropped Pant
2. Charlotte Russe Sash Tencil Short

6. Modcloth Rising Star Wedge
7. Charlotte Russe Sleeved Suede Boot
8. Urban Outfitters Waterfall Ruffle Duvet

10. Antropologie Fleur de Lys Teapot & Tea Cup

IF I COULD ONLY CHOOSE THREE WORDS

EIGHTIES. DANCEWEAR. EUROPEAN.
Those are the words I would use to describe my style, if not always, definitely yesterday.  As I was walking through the streets of downtown, I caught a glimpse of myself in a window.  I giggled; I couldn't decide if I looked more like a dance student from Point Park, a flash back of Pittsburgh streets in the 80's or if I could be roaming the streets of oh so chic Paris.

I'm excited to announce this is Fashionista Barista's first Crazy Hot Clothes sponsored post sans the announcement post of course! Check it, the super chic striped top that is.  I love the cuts of this shirt: boat neck AND 3/4 length sleeve! I believe one of the sexiest parts on a woman is her neckline and collarbone, and this shirt showcases them perfectly!  And I always seem to push up my sleeves to my elbows, it's most comfortable and I really like the look.  I seem to be obsessed with stripes lately too, see here, and this CHC blouse gets me my fix.  This top was so comfortable and I'm proud to say that after an entire day's worth of wearing it, the sleeves DIDN'T stretch out!  It's a miracle I know!  So if having my favorite neckline and sleeve line, my favorite pattern, and conquering my biggest wardrobe-pet peeve wasn't enough...I can officially say I have a piece with the word VALENTINO on the label!  ...Even if its just Valentino Jeans ;)

PS Check out my new necklace!  It was a gift from my mom for my birthday this Sunday.  Its so pretty and extremely versatile.  I think it looked great with this top! But I can't wait to try it with a bunch of different things.  I'll get back to you with the brand.
Crazy Hot Clothes Shirt, Jupe Boutique Skirt, Target Leggings, H&M Sunnies, Gifted Necklace, Target Flats

What're your three style words,
