I don't consider myself a morning person. It's difficult for me to get out of bed. Once I do however, I'm light on my feet and happy to be alive. It's the alarm clock that makes me violent. As I've gotten older, it's gotten less difficult, but I'm always looking for ways to improve those first few moments. And in my detailed research, here are some tips I've come up with:
Use light, or no, curtains. The glow of the sunlight will start to slowly wake you up and the sunbeams are a great greeter to the day. Designate a cuddle partner. It's a good mix of never wanting to leave your bed and fuzzy feelings of love first thing in the morning. Which result in a good day-starter. This can be a partner, a pup or even a super fluffy pillow. Set your alarm half an hour earlier than you actually need to get up. This allows you time to click through instagram (if you're looking for inspiration first thing), or read an exciting book (turns out it's just as good for waking you up as it is for putting you to sleep), or writing in a journal (try writing about why you're happy to be alive today).
To crafting your day,
Elisa
